Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce that the Illinois Council of Orchestras has named Music Director, Alan Heatherington, Conductor of the Year. Heatherington is also Music Director at Lake Forest Symphony and he is being recognized for his work with both organizations.
The Illinois Council of Orchestras is an organization dedicated to encouraging, promoting and assisting orchestras throughout the state of Illinois. The ICO board of directors makes their Conductor of the Year selection based on innovation in programming and soloist selection, personal involvement in the community, relationship with musicians and board, as well as quality of performance.
The Illinois Council of Orchestras presented Heatherington the Conductor of the Year award at a reception held at Roosevelt University on Friday, February 11. A representative of the ICO was also on hand at the Ars Viva concert on May 1, where he presented the award in front of the local symphony audience.
